Hillside Pep Rally: Give Me an 'E' ... the 'E' in Heart

Empathy is learned by example as school supports Cycle for Survival.

Who: Hillside Elementary School.

Accomplishments: They have HEART! Something we especially want to point out on Valentine's Day. At Hillside, HEART means: Helpful. Empathetic. Accepting. Responsible. Working Together.

Key to Awesomeness: School spirit! On Friday, students wore the T-shirt designed by third grader Savannah Belcoure and purchased by their Student Council to cheer on their teachers riding in Cycle for Survival. They got into the spirit of giving, raising $200 in coins for cancer research. “It’s not just your academic studies like math and social studies, that’s important in life,” Sandy Goodman, mother of the founder of Cycle for Survival, told the students. “It’s about learning to care for your community and your friends. I am so proud of you.”
