Grand Finale: Maestro Directs Last Livingston Symphony Orchestra Performance

Istvan Jaray led his last show on Saturday night.

Maestro Istvan Jaray made one last five-hour trip to Livingston over the weekend.

Jaray has made the weekly 500-mile round trip from his full-time post with the Johnstown Symphony to lead the Livingston Symphony Orchestra since 1984.

But after 30 years, Jaray directed his final Livingston Symphony Orchestra concert Saturday night at the Livingston High School auditorium.

Jaray has shared his life experiences with orchestra members and audiences. His journey began in Soviet-occupied Hungary.

Jaray's passion and emotional connection to the classics have been evident in his rehearsals and performances. His passion and communication helped elevate the Livingston Symphony Orchestra to a new level respected by surrounding communities, musicians and audiences.
