Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale Winners Now on Display

Artwork remains on display through Sunday, June 22.

Winners of the 15th annual Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale, sponsored by Audrey and Norbert Gaelen, of West Orange, were announced Sunday at the opening reception.

The show will run through Sunday, June 22 at the Gaelen Gallery West,  Lautenberg Family Center, Aidekman Campus, 901 Route 10 East in Whippany.

Awards were presented for Best in Show and Best /Honorable Mention in the following categories: Photography, Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, and Sculpture. The distinguished panel of judges included: Lora Urbanelli, director of the Montclair Art Museum; Lawrence Cappiello, executive director of Arts Guild New Jersey in Rahway and Mimi Weinberg, Sculptor, Curator and Professor at Montclair State University.

The Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale is highly selective with 55 artists from the greater MetroWest area represented with 87 works of art this year. Most of the art in the show is for sale. The Gaelen Committee includes Audrey & Norbert Gaelen, co-chairmen; Gary Denburg, Simon Leventhal, Bernard Morcheles, Lois Dyer, Julie Levine, and Oscar Peterson. The Gaelen Juried Art Show Coordinator is Lisa Suss.

Best in Show—Lynn Manshel “Male Bust”

Best in Photography—Bill Cofone “Gourds”

Honorable Mention Photography—Linda Baruch “Hacienda Goats”

Best in Drawing—Jeffrey Wolfson “Pay Toll Ahead”

Honorable Mention Drawing—Jeri Greenberg “Two Stops to Go”

Best in Painting—Milton Landman “English Country”

Honorable Mention Painting—Donna K. Read “Orange Scarf”

Best in Mixed Media—Laurie Kalb “Promised Land After”

Honorable Mention Mixed Media—Ben Iluzada “Seacoast Along the Marginal Way-Ogunquit, ME”

Best in Sculpture—Betty McGeehan “Sarasota Series #25”

Honorable Mention Sculpture—Lisa Jacobs “A Moment in Time”

Audrey & Norbert Gaelen are connoisseurs of fine art who are longtime supporters of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey. This show is the continued realization of their dream to offer talented and creative artists in surrounding communities a unique and prestigious venue for their art.
