The Youth Orchestras of Essex County, the longest-operating youth orchestra in New Jersey, will hold its annual spring concert at SOPAC (South Orange Performing Arts Center) on Sunday, May 18 at 4 pm.
Talented young musicians aged 7 – 18 from our area, including many from Livingston, will be playing beautiful music in this concert. In addition, Livingston student Jessica Rossilli will be performing a saxophone solo with the Junior Orchestra. She won this spot through a competition held earlier this year. Also winning a solo spot was Hank Mecinski of South Orange; he will be playing violin with the Essex County Symphony Orchestra.
Three symphonic orchestras are joined this year by the ABC ensemble; this group explores the joys of music from around the world, allowing the musicians the opportunity to play non-traditional instruments on pieces that are “Anything But Classical”.
