Community Corner

Mitzvah Morning @ Temple B'nai Abraham

On Sunday, April 6, members of the Temple B’nai Abraham congregational family gathered for  “Mitzvah Morning”, sponsored by the TBA Membership Committee with the Social Action Committee and Men’s Club.  Members of all ages participated together in a gratifying and rewarding morning of activities and volunteering to benefit those in need in our neighboring communities. Several hundred supporters came to help and together accomplished the following: collected 52 bikes and one sewing machine which were prepared for shipping to developing countries through Pedals for Progress; donated numerous pints of blood to The Blood Center of NJ; packed 300 nonperishable lunches for Bridges; collected many donations for soldiers to be included in care packages with handmade cards, pictures, and patriotic friendship bracelets sent through Bonds of Courage; collected signatures asking Godiva to follow Fair Trade practices; created numerous handmade placemats, vases and tissue paper flowers to help the Interfaith Hospitality Network guests feel welcome when they are hosted at Temple B’nai Abraham for a week in June, and packed 500 Yom HaShoah candles to be sent to the congregation in observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day. TBA Members also participated in Strides for H.O.P.E (Help Overcome Pediatric Epilepsy) Walk, off-site at Livingston High. School. Lisa Reisboard, Social Action Committee Chair, stewarded Mitzvah Morning with the support of Men’s Club Interim President Craig Kantor, and Membership Co-Chairs Marjorie Zucker and Ken Starr.
