Local Foundation Receives Grant for Disadvantaged Students

The Investors Foundation continues to provide supportive funding to nonprofit organizations in the communities served by Investors Bank.  Recent grants awarded by the Foundation include $1,000 to the Parsippany-based Tri-County Scholarship Fund (TCSF).

TCSF provides financial support to economically disadvantaged children to enable them to obtain a high-quality education from accredited private schools in Morris, Passaic, and Sussex counties.

“We provide partial scholarships to elementary and high school students to help them attend the private school of their choice,” said Gregory Floyd, the organization’s president.  “Their families typically have an income that aligns with the federal poverty level, and unfortunately many of these families find that public schools in low-income areas do not provide an optimal educational environment.”

Statistics demonstrate that families and students respond well to the support provided by the TCSF.  In 2012, TCSF senior scholarship recipients had a 100 percent high school graduation rate.  98 percent went on to attend colleges that included Notre Dame, Cornell, and Villanova.

“We received support from the Foundation last year, and we are immensely grateful for their continued generosity,” said Floyd.  “Their assistance, and that of all our donors and funders, is essential to ensuring that these young people have the educational opportunities necessary to thrive and succeed.”

“Every student deserves a top-quality education,” said Investors Bank President and CEO Kevin Cummings, who serves as a member of the Foundation’s board.  “We are pleased to work with the Tri-County Scholarship Fund in supporting their outstanding programs.”
