FURRY FRIEND ADOPTION EVENT AT LIVINGSTON MALL

Simon’s Livingston Mall, in cooperation with Home for Good Dog Rescue and Pilots N Paws, invites local residents to consider adding a four-legged friend to their family during a free pet adoption event on Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the mall parking lot, across from Sears Auto Center.

Home for Good, a foster- and volunteer-based, nonprofit dog rescue organization, works to save canines from euthanasia at high-kill shelters and provide them with a nurturing foster home until they are united with loving families. During Livingston Mall’s event, the group hopes to place about 50 puppies and dogs in need of a home with individuals and families who can give them a safe and healthy environment where they can continue to grow and thrive.  Many of the adoptable dogs will be flown in that day by Pilots N Paws, a national charity that connects general aviation pilots with rescue volunteers to provide free air transport for animals going to waiting families.

“We are happy to host this community event and support the efforts of Home for Good Dog Rescue and Pilots N Paws to find forever homes for these very special animals,” said Elizabeth DiDuca, area director of marketing and business development for Livingston Mall.

Anyone interested in adopting is encouraged to go in advance to the Home for Good website, homeforgooddogs.org, where they can see images of all available pets and complete a pre-approval adoption application. Application processing can take from two to five days, and a potential adopter must have an approved application before they can meet any of the adoptable animals. Attendees hoping to adopt on the spot during the July 13 event are asked to fill out an application and bring all members of their household with them – people and pets – to have a proper meet-and-greet with the animals. Home for Good also will provide food and crates for purchase at the event, and if a match is made that day, adopters will be permitted to take their new pooch right home.

While the five-hour pet adoption event is under way, attendees also will be treated to several family-friendly activities, including a bake sale, a chance to spin the prize wheel and a doggie cool-off pool, where pups of all sizes can take a break from the summer heat.  Children ages 3 to 8 and their parents also are invited to head inside Livingston Mall from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for a Simon Kidgits Club Doggie Play Date in Center Court, featuring a bounce house, crafts, games, a special gift for Kidgits members and much more.
