Foundation Grant Supports Local Youth Initiatives

The Investors Foundation, which provides funding in support of nonprofit programs that enrich the communities served by Investors Bank, has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Healthy Community Healthy Youth Initiative (HCHY) of Livingston.  The funds will be used to support the organization’s various outreach and social services programs.

Founded as part of a nationwide initiative launched in 1996, HCHY is an umbrella organization providing operational and supportive services to more than 60 local organizations involved in youth and children’s issues.  HCHY recently chaired its annual Youth Appreciation Week, a week-long program of performances, celebrations, and other special events culminating in a festival at the Livingston Oval that included games, crafts, face-painting, and other activities.  Other organizations that fall under the HCHY include Children’s Theater of Livingston and the Livingston Robotics Club, which started with one team five years ago and has grown to 15 teams involving more than 100 youths.  Programs run by HCHY include Lance’s Lounge, a “Battle of the Bands”-style competition that gives youths an opportunity to showcase their musical performance skills.

“At HCHY, we work daily to foster a collaborative partnership between youth and adults to create a community where all young people thrive,” said longtime Livingston resident Alan Karpas, the organization’s treasurer and past-president.

“We’re very thankful to the Investors Foundation, and all our corporate partners and donors, for their outstanding support,” added Martha Ackermann, current president of HCHY.  “Their generosity will enable us to continue the pursuit of our community-focused mission.”
