Stand-Up Comedy At B'nai Abraham, NCJW Workshop, Chili Cook-Off And More

Temple
B'nai Abraham will host its sisterhood kick-off with stand-up comedian Jessica Kirson on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the temple, at 300 E Northfield Road. 

There is a fee of $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Seating is limited and reservations can be made here:Reservations. Portion of proceeds to benefit the L’Dor V’Dor Education Fund. For more information about the event, click here.

The Senior/Community Center will host a healthy chili and quinoa cook off Wednesday at 7 p.m. Participants must register at SYLS before the cook-off by calling 973-535-7925 or sending an email to lbranquinho@livingstonnj.org. 

Contestants must bring prepared, heated food and must provide printed copy of recipe, including all ingredients. 

The National Council of Jewish Women will hold a RISE Institute workshop titled Transforming Fear on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the NCJW/Essex Center for Women, at 70 South Orange Ave., Suite 120. Each workshop is $15, and free for Center for Women clients.  To register, call 973-994-4994, or visitwww.centerforwomennj.org.

The West Essex Art Association
will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Crane's Mill Town Square, 459 Passaic Ave. in West Caldwell. 

This month's meeting will feature a demonstration by noted artist Stephanie Deshpande. In this painting demo, she will explain the process of starting a still life beginning with the underpainting, building up the colors, and finalizing the image. Oil painting techniques will be discussed as well as the differences between alla prima and indirect painting methods.

The meeting and demonstration is free and open to all artists and interested parties. Coffee and networking will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the program will start at 8 p.m. sharp. For further information, contact Constance Seugling at 973-239-5005.

Temple Sholom of West Essex, at 760 Pompton Ave. in Cedar Grove, will host a monthly Shred-It Day on Wednesday starting at 9 a.m. for people to discard those personal, financial papers you want to get rid of. Call the Temple office at 973-239-1321 to arrange a drop off or find out the other dates 'Shred It' is coming. Charge is $10 per box.
