The Yale Whiffenpoofs, the nation's oldest a cappella singing group, will perform an hour-long public concert at 8 p.m. Christ Church in Short Hill, at 66 Highland Ave.

Each year, 14 senior Yale men are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs.  Made famous by the signature "Whiffenpoof Song" (which has been covered by artists like Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, and Rudy Vallee), the 'Whiffs' continue their century-old tradition each year with over 200 performances in venues like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Rose Bowl.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and children. You can learn more about them at www.whiffenpoofs.com

The Livingston Public Library will present its music series "Lectures in Song: Jerome Kern" on Friday from 1-2 p.m. at the library. The lecture will be put on by Fred Miller. Coffee and dessert served prior to the program.
