Sweet! Party with the Cake Boss

Buddy Valastro is the guest of honor at National Council of Jewish Women fundraiser.

Buddy Valastro, better known to reality show fans and cake aficionados alike as the “Cake Boss,” is sweet on Essex County. And locals with a sweet tooth can show Valastro who’s the boss at “Bake with the Cake Boss,” the Essex County section of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) event at the Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, on Tuesday, March 15 at 6 p.m.

Guests at the event, which is open to the public, can dine with Valastro, sample desserts, and a lucky few can have their own sweet creations judged by the Cake Boss in a friendly competition.

Valastro, whose youngest child was born last month at Saint Barnabas, was a natural choice for the NCJW fundraiser. “’Bake with the Cake Boss’ is going to be a fabulous fun event that will raise funds for all of our programs and services,” said Cathy Silverman, executive director.

The NCJW is an organization of volunteers and advocates who, guided by Jewish values, works to improve the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.

The largest of the 100 sections around the country, the Livingston-based Essex County NCJW has become known for “hands-on” help. Each year, the NCJW organizes and staffs a Back 2 School Store, where local children in need can “shop” for brand-new school clothes and supplies. The Volunteer Network matches some 1000 adults and teens with local volunteer opportunities. The Linda & Rudy Slucker NCJW Center for Women offers free and low-cost support and counseling services, including back-to-work assistance.

“Bake with the Cake Boss” will support these activities, and a number of options are available for locals who love to bake or simply love the boss. Local bakers who would like to see their sweet creation judged should contact the NCJW in advance. From the general admission dessert tasting to VIP dinner with Buddy, the NCJW’s event offers an opportunity to meet Valastro, sample something sweet, and do good for the community. That’s the icing on the cake.
