Clear Out the Medicine Cabinet
Livingston police will collect old medicine through Operation Take Back.
The Livingston police department wants to help out with that annual spring cleaning - specifically in dealing with old, expired and unwanted medication.
All unused medicines will be collected at the police station in town hall for Operation Take Back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Operation Take Back New Jersey aims to stop drug abuse - especially among youth - by collecting and destroying expired, unused prescription medications, according to its website. The program also prevents the drugs from getting into the illicit drug market.
Livingston police collected 70 pounds of medication through the program last October, Officer Gary Mankowitz said.
"We'll take anything, vitamins, over the counter medications and prescription medications," he said.
Senior citizens who are physically unable to drop off medications can request a pickup by contacting the Livingston police at (973) 992-3000 ext. 3600.
