Are You a Golden Oldie?

5 things this weekend that might be of interest to our lively Livingston seniors.

Seniors are an important part of Livingston. Here's a glance at just a few things of interest:  

  1. Golden Oldies: Stayin' Alive & Lively As We Age. Friday, March 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. What's the role of emotional resilience in healthy aging and how do we develop it?  Come and we’ll address it.   2. Elegance and Enlightenment. Friday, March 11 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 12 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. View the work of fine artists at the Arts Council of Livingston Gallery, 1170 Town Center Way, Livingston.   3. NJ Audubon Birding Field Trip, Hilltop Reservation. Saturday, March 12, 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet at the sports field parking lot near the intersection of Courter Lane and Mountain Avenue in North Caldwell. Spring field trips offer the opportunity to see species of birds that are passing through New Jersey on their way to breeding territories farther north and migrants that are returning to the state to nest.  Plus they’re a way to get some exercise and meet other people.   4. 'New Leaves' A Spring Showing by Blackwell St. Artists, Saturday, March 12 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Meet Blackwell St Artists: Wanda Blake, Peggy Dressel, Dave Gruol, Mary Guidetti-McCall, Annette Hanna, Roz Hollander, Chris Kappmeier, John Power, Elaine Provost, Victoria Starger and Nora Winn at the Artist Reception for "New Leaves" A Spring Showing by Blackwell St. Artists.  The Livingston Gallery is located at 40 S. Livingston Ave., Livingston.  If you want to skip the reception, the Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. now through April 2.   5. The Essex County Orchestra. Sunday, March 13at 3 p.m. The Essex County Orchestra, in conjunction with Congregation Etz Chaim of Livingston, are holding a joint fundraising concert with a variety of selections to be performed.  They include “Variations on Hebrew Themes” for clarinet, piano, and string quartet by Prokofiev; rarely performed pieces for cello and piano; and various brass ensemble presentations.  This concert takes place at Congregation Etz Chaim at 1 Lafayette Drive, Livingston.
