All About Art at MossRehab (Elkins Park), the annual international juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts by artists with disabilities, opened on April 30 and will run until July 1.  This free and open to the public exhibition features the creative work of Livingston’s own Beverly Kohn.  Beverly’s perseverance of her artistic passion in the face of nerve damage, short term memory loss,  and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is truly an inspiration.

Beverly frequently traveled with her father to galleries in New York City as a child and was influenced by his intense commitment to art and his acquisition of a significant art collection.  After receiving a degree from Parsons School of Design in New York City, she enjoyed undertaking special art projects, teaching nursery school and her many volunteer activities.   In 1993 everything changed for Beverly when she was electrocuted by 6000 volts from a defective neon light sign.  As a result of the accident she has nerve damage, constant tingling in her arms and hands, short term memory loss and cognitive damage.  She continues to experience Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  In need of relaxation, practical and therapeutic, she was drawn back to her love of art starting with blocks of colored paper, which grew into dyeing and making her own paper, and she now transfers her paper designs into painting with acrylics, weaving baskets and designing with fibers.  She has participated in many art shows in New Jersey and received awards from Arts at Oval and from the State competitions for people with disabilities.

The exhibition showcases works by 86 artists and fine craft artisans. In addition to local artists, there are exhibitors from throughout the United States, Canada and France. Mediums include oil and watercolor painting, photography, sculpture, needlepoint and jewelry.  Prices range from $12 to $3,400, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the MossRehab Diagnostic Laboratories.

MossRehab at Einstein at Elkins Park, 60 East Township Line Road, is the site of All About Art.  The show runs from April 30 through July 1 when it is free and open to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  For more information or to schedule a group tour, call 215.663.6100.
