Friend Advocate Volunteers

Jewish Family Service of MetroWest (JFS) is seeking Volunteers for its Friend Advocate Program, that provides assistance and companionship to clients aged 60 and over, who are frail, isolated, and reside in Essex County.  In just a few hours a month, you can help foster independence and enhance the quality of life of a senior living alone in the community.

Volunteers often provide assistance to older adults in such areas as monthly bill paying, reading mail, arranging for medical appointments, making phone calls, helping to arrange for transportation, assisting in completing benefits paperwork and companionship.  JFS will conduct initial training and volunteers receive ongoing support and supervision from our staff.  The Friend Advocate Program is funded by the Essex County Department of Senior Services.  To learn more about becoming a Friend Advocate, contact Margo Weill, coordinator of volunteer services at 973-637-1747 or mweill@jfsmetrowest.org.
