Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston celebrated Confirmation Sunday on June 26, 2011.  Jamie Traverso, 15, confirmed her faith at the Sunday morning worship service.

            “Confirmation is an opportunity for a young person to embrace Christian faith for themselves,” said Pastor Susan Gillespie.  “When a child is brought for baptism, promises are made on their behalf; when that same individual comes to faith for him- or herself, this is the time for that person to make their own promises to God.  We celebrate together what God is doing in Jamie’s life.”

            The confirmation service’s homily was delivered by Ms. Traverso, the result of a paper-writing exercise which wound up the 2-year Confirmation curriculum.  The service concluded with the pastor, the church’s council, her Sunday school teachers and parents encircling her in prayer.
